NORMAN – Senior Lily Miyazaki adds to her postseason trophy case with 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Women’s At-Large Team recognition, the organization announced Thursday.
Miyazaki, who has carried a 4.0 grade point average through her undergraduate and graduate studies, was named to the second team and was one of 35 honorees with a perfect GPA.
Miyazaki is the first women’s tennis Academic All-America honoree in school history.
This award is the fifth Miyazaki has received for her academic pursuits this season. The Tokyo, Japan, native earned the Big 12’s Dr. Prentice Gautt Postgraduate Scholarship; was named the Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women’s tennis; tabbed Academic-All Big 12 First Team; was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team, selected by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA); and was the winner of the NCAA’s Elite 90 Award, the honor given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA at each of the NCAA’s 90 finals sites.
The Sooners return to action in the fall. The schedule will be released at a later date.
