NORMAN — Oklahoma senior pitcher Paige Parker has been named a nominee for the 2018 Honda Sport Award, the Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) announced Tuesday.

Parker is one of four finalists, joining Florida's Kelly Barnhill and Amanda Lorenz and UCLA's Rachel Garcia. The four student-athletes were also the four finalists for the USA Softball Player of the Year.

The Honda Sport Award has been presented annually by the CWSA for the past 42 years to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA- sanctioned sports and signifies “the best of the best in collegiate athletics”.  The winner of the sport award becomes a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the prestigious 2018 Honda Cup which will be presented on a live telecast on CBS Sports Network on Monday, June 25, 2018, in downtown Los, Angeles.

The nominees were chosen by a panel of coaches representing the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). The Honda Sport award winner for softball will be announced next week after voting by administrators from over 1,000 NCAA member schools. Each NCAA member institution has a vote.

Parker has been one of the most dominant pitchers in college softball over the past four years, named a four-time All-American and the four-time Big 12 Pitcher of the Year. She finished the 2018 season with her best statistical performance, holding opponents to a .155 batting average and recording a 0.82 ERA.

Her 0.82 ERA this season ranks second nationally. She concluded her senior campaign 31-3 and with 123 career wins, ranking second in program history and leading all active Division I pitchers.

The Independence, Mo., native tallied one no-hitter, eight shutouts and 10 complete games this season. She has totaled 213 strikeouts, averaging 7.94 strikeouts per seven innings pitched, to bring her career total to 968 Ks.

Parker garnered multiple national accolades this season, named the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Week on April 3 and the NFCA Pitcher of the Week on May 8.  Additionally, she was tabbed Big 12 Pitcher of the Week three times this season (March 19, April 2, May 7) to bring her total career weekly awards to 19, second most in Big 12 history.

Additionally, Parker was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Division I Softball Team by CoSIDA on Monday.

Oklahoma alumna Keilani Ricketts was a two-time recipient of the Honda Sport Award for Softball.
