WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Oklahoma women’s tennis senior Lily Miyazaki is set to open the 2018 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championships Wednesday with Meible Chi of Duke at 12:30 p.m. CT.

The senior is ranked No. 39 in the latest ITA singles release and compiled a 15-6 record from the top spot in singles this season, winning 13 of those matches in straight sets. Miyazaki also owns a 3-2 mark against ranked opponents with her signature win coming as a three-set thriller over then-No. 17 Gabriela Talaba of Texas Tech, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.

This is Miyazaki’s second consecutive appearance at the NCAA individual championships. In 2017, she became the first Sooner to compete in the 64-player singles draw since Anda Perianu in 2004. Miyazaki is also the only OU player other than Perinau in school history to earn multiple NCAA tournament bids.

For Duke, Chi went 26-4 on the year, playing primarily at the No. 2 spot, where she finished 8-4 against ranked opponents. A sophomore, Chi opened the spring season on a 21-match winning streak. Chi recorded a 13-1 finish in ACC play and is ranked No. 55 in the latest ITA release.

First serve is set for 12:30 p.m. CT.  Live stats for the match can be found here.
