NORMAN — Oklahoma head volleyball coach Lindsey Gray-Walton announced Friday the addition of Memphis transfer Brianna Kadiku for the 2018 season.
A 6-2 middle blocker from Cedar Hill, Texas, Kadiku has spent two seasons with the Tigers and will be eligible immediately as a junior in 2018.
“Bri is a motivated and excitable athlete that has the ability to make momentum changing plays for her team – Sooner fans will enjoy having her in the Crimson & Cream come 2018,” Gray-Walton said. “With two remaining seasons, Bri voiced her desire to compete at a higher level and has the opportunity to continue her development as a complete student-athlete here at OU while becoming a dominant force in the Big 12.”
Kadiku played in all 32 of the Tigers’ matches in 2017, starting in 31. She led the team in blocks with 131, averaging 1.11 blocks per set. Her 256 kills were second-most on the team last season, and she led Memphis with a .305 hitting percentage. She earned weekly honors from the American Athletic Conference twice.
During her freshman season at Memphis, Kadiku totaled 124 kills and 92 blocks. Prior to her time at Memphis, Kadiku lettered twice at Cedar Hill High School, garnering all-district and all-academic accolades twice.
Kadiku is the sixth new addition for Gray-Walton’s inaugural season. She joins fellow transfers Kylee McLaughlin and Keyton Kinley along with 2018 signees Aysia Harty, Sabrina Simms and Olga Zampati.
