EUGENE, Ore. – No. 2/2 Oklahoma softball dropped a 5-0 contest with No. 4 Oregon on Thursday night at Jane Sanders Stadium.
The loss ended a 30-game winning streak and 37-game road winning streak for Oklahoma (39-3).
Oregon (35-7) used two home runs and a pair of RBI singles to claim the win. The Ducks struck first with a two-run home run from DJ Sanders in the bottom of the first. Mary Iakopo's solo blast in the third extended the Ducks’ lead to 3-0. In the bottom of the fourth, two singles drove in two runs for Oregon to seal the win.
Overall, the Ducks recorded 11 hits, the most against the Sooners this season while limiting OU to just one hit. Oregon pitcher Megan Kleist (14-5) tossed a one-hit shutout, picking up five strikeouts to just one walk. OU's Paige Parker (21-2) suffered the loss, giving up three runs on four hits with three walks in 3.0 innings.
Two runners reached base for the Sooners in the loss. Nicole Pendley drew a walk to lead off the bottom of the second, but was caught stealing second.
Jocelyn Alo registered the Sooners’ sole hit of the game, a hard-hit infield single in the fourth inning. However, Alo was erased one batter later after the Ducks closed the frame with a double play.
The Sooners continue their non-conference road swing on Friday with a 4 p.m. CT game at Oregon State in Corvallis, Ore. It will be broadcast through the Pac-12 Networks and can be heard on KEBC 1560 AM or online via the Franchise 2.
