NORMAN – Aaron Calixte has announced his intention to be a men’s basketball graduate transfer at the University of Oklahoma by signing a scholarship agreement on Tuesday. He will be eligible to play in the 2018-19 season.
A 5-11 point guard from Stoughton, Mass., Calixte (pronounced “ca-LIX-tee”) joins Oklahoma after four seasons at Maine. Calixte led the Black Bears in 2017-18 as a redshirt junior with averages of 16.9 points, 3.2 assists and 3.1 rebounds while shooting .476 from the field and .386 from 3-point range.
"We're really pleased to have Aaron join our program," said OU head coach Lon Kruger. "He is a great competitor who brings in a lot of experience. He is a player who can score but is also able to create for others. He is extremely competitive on the defensive end and is an exciting addition to our team."
An All-America East Conference Third-Team honoree in 2017-18, Calixte ranked fifth in the conference in scoring and eighth in assists. The guard shot 107-of-119 (.899) from the foul line to lead the conference in free throw percentage and rank 14th among all Division I players.
"I'm extremely excited to be a part of the Sooner family," said Calixte. "I appreciated everyone who made me feel like a part of the family on my visit. I cannot wait to give Sooner fans my all on a day to day basis."
Boasting 97 games of collegiate experience, Calixte brings career totals of 1,125 points (11.6 per game) and 295 assists (3.0) to Norman.
Calixte is the fourth new addition to the 2018-19 Oklahoma squad, joining incoming freshman guard Jamal Bieniemy, junior college transfer forward Kur Kuath and graduate transfer guard Miles Reynolds.
