NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma baseball team won in walk-off fashion for the third time this season defeating Baylor, 5-4 in the 10th, in front of 1,028 at L. Dale Mitchell Park on Friday night. The Sooners won the series and moved to 19-10 overall and 5-0 in the Big 12 on a game-winning double by sophomore catcher Brady Lindsly (Keller, Texas).

Oklahoma’s 10th-inning rally began with a two-out single ripped through the left side by redshirt-sophomore center fielder Kyler Murray (Allen, Texas). He took off for second on a high fastball for his fourth stolen base of the season to get into scoring position for Lindsly, who proceeded to launch a fly ball to the track and over the wall in right-center for a ground-rule double.

Junior right-hander Connor Berry (Sugar Land, Texas) entered for the Sooners in the eighth, up 4-3, with a runner on first and one out. Two singles later, Baylor tied the game on a base hit through the left side by center fielder Cole Haring to plate pinch-runner Levi Gilcrease, who slid in just in time to beat the throw home.

Berry (1-1) stayed on for a perfect ninth and stranded a runner in the 10th with a strikeout. He got the win in 2.2 innings with three strikeouts. Baylor closer and RHP Troy Montemayor (0-1) took the loss in 2.1 innings of work. He surrendered the one run on two hits, all in the 10th, with three strikeouts.

Early on, Oklahoma fell behind as Baylor plated an unearned run in the second on a base hit up the middle by second baseman Josh Bissonette. The Sooners went in front in the third with three runs on four hits, including three doubles.

Senior second baseman Kyle Mendenhall (Carlsbad, Calif.) doubled to left off the fielder’s glove to get the bats going. OU tied the game on a RBI-fielder’s choice and went ahead on a two-run double into the right field corner by sophomore shortstop Brandon Zaragoza (Moore, Okla.).

In the top of the fourth, the Bears pulled even with solo home runs from catcher Shea Langeliers and Haring. Mendenhall started a two-out rally for the Sooners in the home half with a single up the middle and moved into scoring position when the ball was mishandled in center. Freshman first baseman Cade Cavalli (Bixby, Okla.) singled Mendenhall home with his second hit of the night to put Oklahoma back in the lead.

Right-hander Devon Perez (Ashburn, Va.) went 4.1 innings in the start for the Sooners. He surrendered three runs, two earned, on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts. Freshman lefty Levi Prater (Ada, Okla.) worked the middle innings, going three with one run on no hits and two walks with two strikeouts.

For Baylor, right-hander Hayden Kettler tossed 6.2 innings in a no-decision. He allowed four runs, three earned, on seven hits and a walk, while striking out seven.

Cavalli finished the night 3-for-4. Murray was 2-for-5 and Mendenhall went 2-for-4 with two runs.

The Sooners go for the sweep Saturday at 4 p.m. Sophomore RHP Nathan Wiles (Overland Park, Kan.) will sart on the mound.
