NORMAN – For the second consecutive game, No. 3/5 Oklahoma softball run ruled Texas Tech 8-0 in five innings on Saturday afternoon at Marita Hynes Field.

The Sooners moved to 27-2 on the season while the Red Raiders fell to 20-12. OU's win was its 18th consecutive victory and extended its home winning streak to 16, which dates back to last season.

The win was OU's 15th shutout and 11th run-rule win of the year.

Mariah Lopez and Paige Lowary combined in the circle on Saturday. Lopez remained perfect on the season as she moved to 8-0, tossing 4.0 innings with three hits and three strikeouts.

Lowary closed the final frame by retiring all three batters in order. Over 188 innings this season, the OU pitching staff has recorded a conference-low ERA of 0.78.

At the plate, OU was led by Caleigh Clifton, Sydney Romero and Shay Knighten, who all finished the day 2-for-3. Clifton, along with freshman Jocelyn Alo, drove in two runs in the contest, while Romero, Fale Aviu and Nicole Pendley all drove in one.

OU opened scoring in the bottom of the second as Clifton doubled down the left field line to drive in Knighten from first base.

In the third, the Sooners added four runs, started by a double from Aviu that plated Romero. The next batter, Pendley, reached on an error that allowed Alo and Aviu to both reach home. Clifton later drove in her second run of the day as she laid down a perfect squeeze bunt that brought Pendley across home plate.

Alo hit her 14th home run of the season in the bottom of the fourth, a two-run shot that put OU up 7-0. The Hauula, Hawaii, native leads the conference in home runs this season.

The Sooners secured the run-rule victory in walk-off fashion in the fifth. With runners on first and second, Romero doubled to right field to drive in pinch runner Hannah Sparks. Romero leads the team in RBIs this season with 38 while hitting .517 through 29 games.

Oklahoma and Texas Tech conclude their conference-opening series on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Oklahoma and Fox College Sports Central and will be on the air via KEBC 1560 AM or online through the Franchise 2.
