NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma men’s gymnastics team is ranked No. 1 in this week’s College Gymnastics Association coaches poll, collecting all 21 first place votes.
This marks the fifth consecutive week that the Sooners were tabbed as the top team by NCAA coaches.
In this week’s national rankings, the NCAA moves to four-score average. Teams must have at least two road scores to qualify for the rankings. Because OU’s season opener at Air Force was canceled due to the government shutdown, it only posts one away score and is not nationally ranked.
The Sooners have been ranked No. 1 every week they have been eligible since 2014.
Last week, OU wrapped up its home schedule as it took down California 410.100-397.250. Seniors Hunter Justus and Reese Rickett each picked up an event title in the final home meet of their careers. The win was OU’s 87th straight overall and their 45th consecutive victory at McCasland Field House.
After not competing on the road in over a month, the Sooners travel to Champaign, Ill., to take on Illinois on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT.
