NORMAN – Oklahoma women’s tennis heads to Tulsa Saturday for a clash with the Golden Hurricane at noon.
The Sooners (5-4) come into the matchup riding a four-match winning streak.
In its last competition, OU defeated USF, 4-3, at the Headington Family Tennis Center. OU dropped the doubles point, but came out firing in singles to capture the match behind wins by seniors Lily Miyazaki, Christie Brigante and Malene Stripp and newcomer Jasmine Asghar.
Miyazaki continues to lead the Sooners from the No. 1 line, where she has compiled a 5-2 record, good for a No. 26 ranking in the latest ITA release. Miyazaki has won her last four consecutive matches in straight sets.
Stripp also owns a four-match winning streak and is 5-1 on the season on courts four, five and six.
In doubles, Brigante and Asghar remain undefeated in the top spot with a 4-0 record. Camila Romero and Simran Sethi are 3-1 on the year at No. 3 doubles.
Tulsa enters the contest at 11-2 on the season and is tabbed No. 41 in the ITA rankings. In its last match, the Golden Hurricane put away USF, 6-1.
In singles action, Ksenia Laskutova owns a 10-2 record between courts one and two. Martina Okalova is 8-1 on courts one, two and three, clocking in at No. 95 in the ITA.
Laskutova and Martha Matoula are 8-2 at No. 1 doubles and the pair currently holds a five-match winning streak. Okalova and Vera Ploner are 8-3 on court two.
The Last Time They Met…
The teams met last season in Norman, when the Golden Hurricane defeated OU, 4-1.
OU owns the all-time record, 29-7.
