NORMAN – A pair of Oklahoma gymnasts received Big 12 Weekly accolades, the conference announced Monday. Junior Alex Marks was named the Event Specialist of the Week and freshman Anastasia Webb was named the Newcomer of the Week.
Marks was named the event specialist for the first time in her Oklahoma career. The junior tied her career high with a 9.9 on vault in the No. 2 spot. Her Yurchenko full put her in second place at the meet in just her second competition of the season.
Webb was honored for the fifth time this season as she had yet another solid performance for the Sooners. The freshman put up at least two scores of 9.9 or higher for the third time this season. Webb took home a share of the bars title with a 9.925 on the apparatus and came in third on floor with a 9.900. She also contributed a solid 9.850 to the beam lineup and now ranks eighth nationally on the event.
The Sooners are back at Lloyd Noble Center Friday to take on Big 12 competitor, West Virginia. The meet is slated for a 6:45 p.m. start and will air on Fox Sports Oklahoma and Fox College Sports Central.
