NORMAN – The USTA and Tennis Channel have announced that the Sooner’s College MatchDay clash with Texas A&M on Feb. 24 will be carried live on Tennis Channel and Tennis Channel Everywhere as part of the first series of live college tennis programming Tennis Channel has ever aired.
Veteran broadcaster Leif Shiras and former world No. 4 James Blake will call the action, along with former world No. 5 Jimmy Arias serving as the on-court reporter.
This is the latest of the USTA's efforts to promote college tennis through television partners. Each College MatchDay in 2017 aired live on ESPN3 and WatchESPN, while ESPNU aired the Men's and Women's NCAA Division I Team Championships.
The Sooners will take on the Aggies on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 9:30 a.m. CT at the USTA National Campus' 1,200-seat stadium in Lake Nona, Fla., the only off-campus facility in the country built specifically for collegiate tennis.
"We are very excited to be part of this special series of College MatchDay events hosted by the USTA," said head coach Nick Crowell. "Playing big matches in big time environments is what we want to do here at Oklahoma. Our guys have been preparing very hard and we look forward to the opportunities this weekend."
The Sooners will also face USF Friday at 11:30 a.m. CT, also at the USTA National Campus.
Complimentary tickets for the event can be found here. Fans are encouraged to reserve tickets online in advance.
