NORMAN – For the fourth time this season, freshman Anastasia Webb was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Webb competed on three events Sunday, helping lead Oklahoma to a season-high 198.150 in a victory over North Carolina.
Webb was solid once again in competition, putting up two scores of 9.9 or higher and adding a 9.850 to help OU to its highest score of the season. On bars, Webb contributed a 9.850 to a lineup that posted the highest bar team total this season with a 49.575. She was stellar on beam, scoring a 9.925 to lead OU to a whopping 49.600 on the event.
Floor was where she shined this meet, scoring a 9.950 to take home a share of the event title, while also posting a season and career high. Webb now ranks 8th nationally on beam and 23rd on bars.
Up next for Webb and Oklahoma is the Perfect 10 Challenge at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Okla. The Sooners will take on Nebraska on Friday, Feb. 16, at 6:45 p.m. in their first podium meet of the season.
