The Sooners return to action after an exceptional meet last weekend in Norman at the J.D. Martin Invitational. Impressive performances from the men’s and women’s throws groups and also the sprints teams led the way for OU.

Freshman Vernon Turner took home first in the men’s long jump with a 7.17-meter mark, a week after breaking the school record for high jump at the Texas Tech Invitational with a 2.30-meter mark.

Other notable Sooners’ showings included four Sooners in the top five of the women’s pole vault and top spots in the women’s triple jump and men’s mile run, where Calvin Miller placed first among collegiate competitors with a PR time of 4:16.24. Additionally, senior Medinah Spencer broke a meet record in the women’s 200-meter dash with a time of 24.15 seconds, marking her personal best and breaking an OU mark formerly held by three-time Olympian Laverne Jones.
