Sooners Hit the Road for Two Big 12 Duals

NORMAN — The Oklahoma wrestling team heads west this weekend to take on two conference opponents, facing Utah Valley on Friday at 8 p.m. CT and No. 22 Wyoming on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT.

The duals are the final two in a run of six consecutive Big 12 contests for the Sooners.

OU returns to the road after splitting its matches last weekend, defeating Iowa State 21-16 on Jan. 26 before falling to No. 12 South Dakota State, 22-13, on Jan. 28.

Three Sooners appear in the latest InterMat poll, released Jan. 30. Yoanse Mejias (174 pounds) moved to No. 10 after taking down South Dakota State’s No. 9 David Kocer, 7-5, on Sunday, and Christian Moody (125 pounds) held steady at No. 17. Davion Jeffries (149 pounds) returned to the poll, coming in at No. 20.

Sunday’s contest marks the 21st all-time between the Sooners and the Cowboys, with OU holding a 17-3 advantage. In the last meeting on Feb. 10, 2017, the Sooners downed Wyoming, 19-18, by scoring 16 points unanswered.
