NORMAN — The No. 1-ranked 2018 Oklahoma softball team will have 16 of its regular season games televised, the Big 12 and OU's athletics department announced Tuesday. Four contests will air on the ESPN family of networks, one on FSN and 11 (all at home) on Sooner Sports TV Powered by FOX Sports.
Oklahoma's first nine televised games — including six over a five-day span — will be SSTV broadcasts, starting with the March 7 Saint Francis (Pa.) contest. March 9 games against Illinois State and Indiana will follow, as will outings against South Carolina on March 10 and 11, and a March 11 game versus Illinois State. All three games of OU's series against Texas Tech (March 23-25) will also air on SSTV, as will matchups against Wichita State on April 11 and Texas on April 27.
The Big 12 and its television partners ESPN and FOX Sports also announced the 2018 Big 12 softball telecast schedule, and five of the six regular season games slated for those networks will involve the two-time defending national champion Sooners. Seven of the nine Phillips 66 Big 12 Softball Championship contests will also be televised.
The conference's national coverage will begin with the Oklahoma at Baylor game on March 31 (ESPN). The Sooners' April 28 and 29 home games against Texas will air on ESPN2. OU's two Bedlam home games will also air nationally, with the May 2 contest appearing on FSN and the May 5 game appearing on ESPNU.
The other Big 12 regular season game that will be nationally televised is Texas at Baylor on May 5 (FSN).
Phillips 66 Big 12 Softball Championship pool play games on the main field of ASA Hall of Fame Stadium will be televised on FOX College Sports (FCS). The event will take place May 11-12 in Oklahoma City with the championship contest televised on FS2 at 4 p.m. CT.
Additionally, every 2018 OU softball game can be heard on KEBC 1560 AM with Chris Plank once again calling the action.
