NORMAN – After being the first of two teams to top the 198 mark this season, a trio of Oklahoma gymnasts swept the Big 12 weekly awards, the conference announced Monday.

Maggie Nichols (Gymnast of the Week) and Anastasia Webb (Newcomer of the Week) were both honored for the second straight week, while Carly Woodard (Event Specialist of the Week) was honored for the first time this season. All three were instrumental in helping OU reach a season-high 198.125 as they combined for seven scores of 9.9 or higher.

Nichols posted a nation-high 39.775 in the all-around on Friday night and now sits at No. 1 in the nation with a 39.700 average. The sophomore took home the all-around title against No. 5 Florida, along with event titles on bars (9.950) and floor (9.975). Nichols rounded out the meet with a 9.875 on beam. Along with her No. 1 ranking in the all-around, Nichols ranks in the top ten on three events as she is first on vault (9.925), second on bars (9.942), and sixth on floor (9.917).

Woodard reached new heights, scoring a 9.950 on beam in just her second collegiate meet to help lead OU to a season-high 49.550 on beam. Woodard’s 9.950 is a new season and career high, besting her score of 9.875 in her debut. The freshman walk-on led the Sooners on beam with the highest individual score and finished third overall at the meet.

Webb was named the Newcomer of the Week for the third time this season after setting a career-high in the all-around with a 39.625, moving her into seventh nationally with a 39.475 average. Webb set three career highs over the weekend, tallying at least 9.9 on three events for the first time this season. She led the team with a 9.950 on bars, sharing the event title with Nichols, and added a 9.925 on floor, a 9.9 on vault and a 9.850 on beam.

The Sooners are back in action Sunday, Feb. 4, when they travel to No. 4 UCLA for another top-five showdown. The meet is slated for a 3 p.m. CT start on ESPN.
