Sooners Drop Road Contest at No. 24 TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas — Oklahoma women's basketball fell 62-58 to No. 24/24 TCU on Saturday inside Schollmaier Arena. 

The Sooners (10-11, 5-5 Big 12) led 50-47 with 5:16 to play, but an 8-0 run by the Horned Frogs (15-5, 6-3 Big 12) gave TCU the lead for good down the stretch.

Gabbi Ortiz cut the deficit down to 58-56 with 38 seconds left, but the Sooners could not mount a late comeback. Amber Ramirez's nine points during the game's final two minutes sparked TCU's late run.

Shaina Pellington scored a game-high 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting, her fourth straight game in double figures. The freshman was 7-of-14 from the field and 5-for-9 at the free throw line, while adding three rebounds and two assists.

Vionise Pierre-Louis picked up her 17th career career double-double, finishing with 12 points and 14 rebounds. The senior also tied her season high with five blocks in 33 minutes. Pierre-Louis now ranks 10th all-time at OU in double-doubles. 

Ana Llanusa was 6-of-15 from the field and added 12 points. Ortiz had a near double-double with 10 points and a season-high nine rebounds in 40 minutes of action. 

OU took its first lead of the game in the third quarter and stretched its advantage to five at the beginning of the final frame. TCU answer with three treys in the fourth quarter and shot .538 from the field in the game's final 10 minutes. 

The Sooners outshot the Horned Frogs, .351-.328, but TCU finished with a .389 clip (7-of-18) from deep while OU shot just .235 (4-of-17) from 3-point range. At the free throw line, TCU was 13-of-14 as OU finished 14-of-22 (.636) at the stripe. Both teams recorded seven blocks, while OU finished with a 48-35 advantage on the glass. 

Lauren Heard led TCU with 12 points off the bench, while Kianna Ray scored 11 points and dished a game-high four assists.

OU returns home to face Kansas State on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. CT for Sooner Jr. Fan Field Trip Day. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Oklahoma.
