









NORMAN — The No. 18 Oklahoma wrestling team hits the mat for the first time in 2018 this week, competing in a pair of duals on the road. The Sooners open Big 12 competition on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT at West Virginia before taking on Pittsburgh on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
Most recently, OU downed Appalachian State, 19-13, in its home opener on Dec. 17 to move to 2-2 on the season.
This weekend’s duals mark OU’s first true road duals of the season. In addition to the home matchup in December, the Sooners have also competed in three neutral-site duals, all taking place at the Journeymen Northeast Duals on Nov. 11.

The Sooners have won all three meetings between OU and Pittsburgh. The two programs most recently met in 2008, when OU defeated the Panthers 17-15 in Norman.
Additionally, Pittsburgh is coached by Keith Gavin, who served as an assistant to OU head coach Lou Rosselli during the 2016-17 season.
