NORMAN — Former University of Oklahoma gymnast Allan Bower wrapped up competition at the Cottbus World Cup in Cottbus, Germany, Saturday with a pair of strong performances in the individual event finals.

Bower, who earned six All-America honors as a senior on last year’s OU national championship team, secured a fourth-place finish with a 13.966 on the floor exercise and a seventh-place finish on pommel horse with a 14.066.

“This was Allan’s first individual event World Cup and he hit three good routines in prelims and two great routines in finals,” Oklahoma head coach Mark Williams said. “With a strong field, finishing fourth on floor and seventh on pommel horse was a very good performance. Allan continues to show why he is one of our best USA National Team members.”

Bower narrowly missed qualifying for the parallel bars event final, tying for eighth with a 13.866 but losing the tiebreaker to Germany's Ivan Rittschik.

The Cottbus World Cup is part of the International Gymnastics Federation's World Cup series. The U.S. team is coached by OU assistant coach Taqiy Abdullah-Simmons.
