Bower to Compete in Two World Cup Event Finals

NORMAN — Former University of Oklahoma gymnast Allan Bower will compete in two event finals Saturday at the Cottbus World Cup in Cottbus, Germany, after finishing in the top eight of qualifying in each.

Bower, who earned six All-America honors as a senior on last year's OU national championship team and was the all-around silver medalist at the 2017 USA Championships, posted a 13.700 on the floor exercise to finish fourth in qualifying this week, and scored a 14.166 on the pommel horse to take the eighth spot.

Bower narrowly missed qualifying for the parallel bars event final, tying for eighth with a 13.866 but losing the tiebreaker to Germany's Ivan Rittschik.

Men's floor exercise, pommel horse and still rings event finals will begin Saturday at 7 a.m. CT. Fans can watch the finals live at or via the Olympic Channel app.

The Cottbus World Cup is part of the International Gymnastics Federation's World Cup series. The U.S. team is coached by OU assistant coach Taqiy Abdullah-Simmons.
