“In general, this is a good class of guys,” Williams said of the cohort. “I’m hoping we can remain at the top of the NCAA team competitions with their addition to our program.”

The Tigard, Ore., native qualified for the 2017 P&G Championships, where he finished eighth in the all-around. Goodell is the son of Tina and Shay Goodell and has a younger sister, Pia.

“It looks like potentially Spencer can be someone who also does a tremendous job as an all-around gymnast for us,” Williams said. “He’s had some experience working with former Soviet Union great Dmitry Bilozerchev as well. Spencer looks to have a tremendous upside to developing more difficult routines to his gymnastics. I’m really looking forward to being able to work with him over the next four years.”
