NORMAN – Following up Saturday’s strong start to the final regatta of the fall, the Oklahoma rowing team closed the Head of the Hooch Sunday with two victories.
In OU’s first event of the day, junior Abby Lange took gold in the Women’s Championship 1x with a time of 20:42.91, while senior teammate Melissa Patten clocked a time of 22:28.81 to place fifth.
Racing eight boats in the Women’s Open 2-, the Sooners grabbed another gold medal when duo Katja Reubling and Andreja Kekic crossed the finish line in 19:30.35. OU tandems of Kalie Heffernan and Maxi Baumgart (20:39.57) and Lauren Bishop and Andrea Batchev (20:43.12) were close behind to finish fourth and fifth, respectively.
Also competing in the Open 2-, Abby Lange and Madeleine Lange clocked a time of 20:47.63, while the pairs of Mary Anderson and Shelby Johnson crossed the line in 21:10.82 to place eighth and Baylee Barnes and Katherine Ognovich rounded out the top 10 with a time of 21:15.93. Sooners Rachel Williams and Amy Pasque (21:33.84) and Elena Sloan and Nina Chism (21:35.56) also placed 12th and 13th, respectively.

The Sooners will continue their offseason workouts in preparation for the spring. OU’s 2018 schedule kicks off on Mar. 10 against Kansas State in Oklahoma City.
