Calvo Wraps Up Remarkable Fall

NORMAN – Ferran Calvo’s impressive fall season came to an end Friday at the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships. The junior was defeated by Florida’s Johannes Ingildsen in the consolation round of 16, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.

Calvo lost his opening match to Kentucky’s Ryotaro Matsumura after a second-set tiebreaker, 6-4, 7-6 (5). He then moved to the consolation draw, where he took down Leonardo Telles of Texas, 6-4, 7-6 (1), to advance to the round of 16.

The junior finishes his remarkable fall slate with a record of 22-4 with singles titles at the Alabama Four-in-the-Fall and the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational. Calvo got off to a hot start with a 17-match winning streak, which carried him through the prequalifying and qualifying draws to the main bracket at the ITA All-American Championships, where he advanced to the round of 16.  

The Sooners will have a brief hiatus until January when they begin the spring slate. Results from the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships have been updated below.
