NORMAN – Oklahoma soccer redshirt sophomore Kaylee Dao captured All-Big 12 honors for the second time in her career, the conference announced Monday. Dao was placed on the first team in a utility spot.
Dao has appeared in 16 games this season, leading the team with four goals on the year. She has tallied two game-winning scores this season, including a golden goal against Tulsa to help the Sooners secure their first victory of the year. Dao has also picked up one assist on the year and was perfect on her lone penalty kick attempt of the season.
This is the second Big 12 honor for Dao as she earned a spot on the All-Big 12 freshman team after her first campaign with the Crimson and Cream. She is just the seventh player in OU history to earn Big 12 honors in more than one season.
The Sooners will open postseason play on Wednesday in Kansas City, Mo., when they face No. 1 seed Oklahoma State at 11:30 a.m. CT in the Big 12 Championship. This will be the third Bedlam match-up of the year, with the Cowgirls taking the first two meetings by scores of 2-1 and 4-1. The match will be broadcast live on the Big 12 Digital Network, with the winner advancing to semifinal play on Friday.
