OU Grabs Two Wins at Head of the Colorado
NORMAN – In the final scrimmage of the fall season for the Oklahoma rowing novice squad, the Sooners claimed two wins as all five boats earned top-5 finishes at the Head of the Colorado in Austin, Texas.
OU began the weekend with a win in the women’s novice 4+, where the lone two OU boats grabbed first and second in the race. The Sooner B boat led the pack with a time of 16:49.9, while the OU A boat took silver as it crossed the finish line in 17:45.8.
The Sooners wrapped the day with a trio of boats in the novice 8+, where OU claimed its second win. OU’s A boat took gold with a time of 15:32.4. The Sooners grabbed two more top-5 finishes in the race, as the OU B boat took third with a time of 15:59.4 and OU’s C boat rounded out the top five with a mark of 17:06.6.
OU’s varsity rowing team will close its fall slate next weekend as it travels to Chattanooga, Tenn., for the Head of the Hooch.
