NORMAN – Oklahoma men's basketball will host a charity scrimmage against UT Arlington on Saturday, Oct. 28, to benefit the United Way Harvey Recovery Fund. The scrimmage, held at noon CT at Lloyd Noble Center, will have open seating and not require tickets.

Fans on campus for Oklahoma’s homecoming football game against Texas Tech (7 p.m. kickoff) are encouraged to get their first look at this season's men’s basketball team. Those in attendance have the opportunity to donate to the United Way Harvey Recovery Fund via text message with a suggested donation of $5 per person.

"This is a special opportunity to help support the rebuilding efforts in Houston and along the Gulf Coast," said OU head coach Lon Kruger. "Through this fundraiser, our fans will also have an early chance to see our team play against a well-coached opponent coming off of a 27-win season. We encourage all Sooner fans to make this scrimmage part of their homecoming festivities and help donate to this great cause."

UTA returns 10 lettermen from a 2016-17 team that went 27-9 and won the Sun Belt regular-season title. The Mavericks reached the quarterfinals of the 2017 NIT and return two of their top three scorers, including Sun Belt Player of the Year Kevin Hervey.

Free parking will be available in the Lloyd Noble Center parking lot and doors to the arena will be open at the east and west entrances one hour before tipoff. Limited concessions will be available for the event.

Members of OU's tickets sales staff will also be in attendance to assist fans interested in season ticket options and open season ticket locations will be marked throughout the arena.

No TV broadcast or video stream will be provided, but the Sooner Radio Network will carry the game with Toby Rowland and Kevin Henry calling the action. The game will air on 1560 AM The Franchise 2 in Oklahoma City, 1430 The Buzz in Tulsa and 1400 KREF in Norman along with the TuneIn Radio App.

The United Way Harvey Recovery Fund will help local United Ways meet the storm-related needs and support long-term recovery throughout the affected regions. One hundred percent of individual donations given to the United Way Harvey Recovery Fund will be distributed to local United Ways in areas affected by Hurricane Harvey.
