NORMAN – The Oklahoma soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Kansas Friday night at John Crain Field.

“We finished the wrong side of a good soccer game,” head coach Matt Potter said. “I can’t complain about the opportunities that we created, we just didn't have that cutting edge in the final third. If you give the caliber of player that Kansas has time to finish in the box, they are going to punish you and that was the difference in the game I felt.”

Prior to the game, the Sooners honored the six members of their senior class: Madeline Brem, Tori Bowman, Kaitlyn Keith, Jordyn Knox, Rasha Roberts.

“OU does a great job of honoring our family and honoring our four years here,” Bowman said. “It’s awesome being able to go out there with all the people who support you and with your friends who have been with you since day one. It’s just been such a blessing to play here.”

Kansas struck just 60 seconds into the match off a free kick from Katie McClure. McClure’s attempt was set up from just outside the 18-yard box, finding the back of the net on a low shot inside the post.

Kyle Escobedo tied the game in the 29th minute on her third goal of the season. Escobedo perfectly played a ball from outside the 18-yard box to the far upper right corner of the goal.

The Jayhawks would take back the lead in the 32nd minute. McClure found the back of the net once again, battling through the OU defense and taking a point-blank shot from six yards out. In the 62nd minute, Grace Hagan made it a 3-1 game on a shot that ricocheted off the far post into the back of the net.

Roberts led all Sooners with three shots on the night. Fellow seniors Brem and Bowman each notched a shot apiece. Kansas’ McClure led all players with five shots on the night.

McKinley Crone recorded seven saves on the night, pushing her season total to 98. Crone currently leads the Big 12 in saves this season.

The final home game of the regular season will be played Sunday at 1 p.m. CT. The Sooners will host their annual “Kick for a Cure” game and fans are encouraged to wear pink.
