NORMAN, Okla. - Former University of Oklahoma golfer Anne-Catherine Tanguay (2010-14) punched her ticket to the 2018 LPGA Tour this week by concluding the 2017 season in the top 10 of the Symetra Tour’s money list.

Only 10 golfers from the Symetra Tour reach the LPGA Tour based on season winnings. Tanguay earned $76,663 in 2017, the eighth most among Symetra Tour members.

"I am so happy to finally be a full-member of the LPGA Tour," said Tanguay. "It's been a lifelong dream that I really started to believe in during my time at OU. My four years as a Sooner with my teammates, Coach V, support coaches, trainers and staff were instrumental in my development to get me here today. I'd like to thank the Sooner family for their support and offering me with the best resources to succeed - there's only one. I cannot wait for the 2018 season to start and have the chance to play with the best in the world.”

Tanguay began the year with six straight top 15 finishes, but the season highlight came in September when she won the Garden City Charity Classic in Garden City, Kan., becoming the first Sooner that has played for OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell to earn a Symetra Tour victory.

A native of Quebec City, Quebec, Tanguay is the first Sooner to qualify for the LPGA Tour through the Symetra Tour money list since Kendall Dye in 2014. Tanguay previously held a conditional LPGA tour card in 2016 after finishing in 38th place at the 2015 LPGA Qualifying School. She made 10 starts on the 2016 LPGA Tour and finished in the top 60 on four occasions.

“I'm really proud of AC for her hard work and dedication to be a better golfer,” said Drouin-Luttrell. “I'm excited to follow her on the LPGA Tour and seeing her compete against the best players in the world.”

One of Drouin-Luttrell’s first recruits at Oklahoma, Tanguay was a WGCA All-American in 2014 and was selected to the All-Big 12 Team in 2013 and 2014. She ranks third in program history in both career scoring average (74.09) and par-or-better rounds (38).

Tanguay was a crucial member in some of the best team seasons in OU history. The Sooners finished in the top 10 of the NCAA Championships in each of her last three seasons at Oklahoma, including a program-record fourth-place finish during her senior season (2014). Tanguay won team Big 12 titles with the Sooners in 2012 and 2014.
