Oklahoma Ready for Match at West Virginia
The University of Oklahoma travels to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers on Friday, October 13 at 7 p.m. The match will be played inside the WVU Coliseum.
ABOUT THE SOONERS
Oklahoma is 4-14 overall and 1-4 in the Big 12 after dropping a contest with No. 11 Kansas on Saturday evening, 3-1. Junior outside hitter Alyssa Enneking recorded her ninth double-double of the season against the Jayhawks in a 16-kill, 11-dig effort. She continues to lead the Sooner attack with 4.20 kills per set along with 3.50 digs per set in conference play. Morgan Miller is coming off a double-double effort against Kansas on Saturday. The junior has split time between outside hitter and setter; averaging 4.16 assists, 2.02 kills, 1.80 digs, and 0.49 blocks per set. Junior setter Audrey Alford averages 8.86 assists and 1.88 digs per set. The Sooners are 0-6 on the road this season and seeking their first win in a true road game since sweeping Texas Tech in Lubbock on October 12, 2016.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
West Virginia comes into the meeting with a 12-6 overall record and a 1-4 record in conference play. The Mountaineers have dropped their last four contests, including two against ranked opponents Texas and Kansas. Middle blocker Mia Swanegan leads the attack with a .319 hitting percentage and 2.60 kills per set. The defense is led by libero Alexa Hasting, who comes in averaging a team-high 3.63 digs per set, while outside hitter Payton Caffrey leads the offense with 3.08 kills per set. Setter Erin Slinde comes into Saturday’s contest averaging 10.32 assists per set.
LAST TIME THEY MET
Playing on the second night of a back-to-back, Oklahoma claimed the season series with West Virginia as it claimed a 3-1 road victory at the WVU Coliseum on October 8, 2016. After dropping the first set 25-19, the Sooners fought back to take the next three sets by scores of 25-23, 25-22, and 25-22. Outside Madison Ward tied for the match lead in kills at 18 and added 11 digs for her third double-double of the season. Alyssa Enneking posted a match-leading and career-high 28 digs. Oklahoma won the first match of the series a day earlier in straight-sets.

ALL-TIME VS. WEST VIRGINIA
The Sooners first met the Mountaineers for their first match in 1999 and have held an 11-0 advantage from that day forward. Oklahoma has swept six of the ten conference matches against West Virginia after WVU joined the Big 12 Conference in 2012. In the first league game between the two schools, OU won at home in four sets behind 13 kills on a .500 attack rate and seven blocks from Sallie McLaurin.
