NORMAN – Oklahoma seniors Paige Parker and Lea Wodach were each recognized as 2016-17 NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced Tuesday afternoon.
To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes needed to have a minimum grade point average of 3.5.
Parker and Wodach were also Academic All-Big 12 First Team honorees this season, with Wodach achieving the honor with a 4.0 GPA. Additionally, Parker earned Academic All-District honors in 2017.
Named a Second Team All-American this year, Parker was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Year for the third straight season after posting the lowest ERA (1.43) and best strikeout rate (8.72 per 7 IP) of her career. She tallied a 26-5 record with six shutouts while holding opponents to a .179 average in a team-high 210.1 innings.
Wodach played in 60 games in 2017 with 50 starts at catcher and led the team with seven sacrifice bunts. Entering 2018, she ranks seventh in program history with a career fielding percentage of .989.
