NORMAN – He just keeps winning.

Junior Ferran Calvo did it again Thursday, advancing to the second round of the ITA All-American in Tulsa, Okla., with a 7-5, 6-4, victory over Texas Tech’s Artem Kapshuk. The win kept Calvo's perfect record in tact. The junior has started the season at 16-0 in singles.

Calvo worked his way up to the main draw after opening the tournament in the pre-qualifying draw. He then fought through the qualifying bracket, defeating Texas’ Leonardo Telles in a three-set thriller, 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (6), to clinch a spot in the main draw.

Calvo now owns a 7-0 record in Tulsa since the tournament kicked off on Sept. 30, and will put his streak on the line again Fridaywhen he faces Tennessee’s Timo Stodder in the second round.

In other action, OU senior Spencer Papa fell to Utah’s Dan Little in the opening round. Papa dropped the first set, 6-4, before turning the tables in the second to win 6-3 and force a third set. Little took the match with a 6-3 victory in the deciding frame.

Papa moves to the consolation bracket, where he will compete again Friday. The senior will face USC's Logan Smith at 9 a.m. CT.

In doubles action, Papa and freshman Jake van Emburgh were defeated by Virginia Tech’s Mitch Harper and Henrik Korsgaard, 6-4, 6-3. Papa/van Emburgh will take on Florida State's tandem of Jose Garcia and Lucas Poullain in the doubles consolation draw at 2 p.m. CT Friday.
