NORMAN - Oklahoma junior Julienne Soo was named the Big 12 Women’s Golfer of the Month for the month of September, the conference announced Wednesday.
Soo recorded top-10 finishes in both September tournaments and shot under par in five of six rounds to average 69.0 (-2.0) strokes per round. Dating back to last season, she has shot par or better in 26 of her last 39 rounds.
The South Yarra, Australia, native opened the season with her third career top-five finish, shooting a 204 (-9) at the Jim West Challenge to take third place. Her score is the second-lowest 54-hole score in program history (also owns the lowest score of 203 from the 2017 Clover Cup). The Sooners took second place in the event as a team.
Soo followed up the season opener with another top-10 performance, securing ninth place at the Schooner Fall Classic with a 3-under 210 as Oklahoma tied for sixth.
Rated No. 31 in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Individual Rankings, Soo boasts the highest individual ranking among Big 12 golfers who have competed in multiple tournaments.
Soo's honor marks the first conference award for the Sooners this season and the second of her career, previously being named Big 12 Golfer of the Month in March, 2017. The Sooners are back in action October 9-10 at The Betsy Rawls in Austin, Texas.
