NORMAN After posting back-to-back shutouts, including one over No. 8 Texas, freshman McKinley Crone was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week.

Crone tallied 220 minutes in goal over the weekend, picking up her second and third shutouts of the season. The Maitland, Fla. native notched 16 saves on the weekend, including a career-high nine against Baylor Friday night.

On Sunday, Crone shined as she registered seven saves in a shutout victory over No. 8 Texas. Texas entered Sunday’s match averaging 1.81 goals per game, but Crone stepped up big, handing the Longhorns their first shutout of the season and ending their perfect season.

Crone’s consecutive shutouts were the first for OU since the 2015 season when the Sooners shut out Illinois State and West Virginia in back-to-back games.

The Sooners are back in action this weekend with road matches at Iowa State and West Virginia. OU will play Iowa State Friday at 7 p.m. CT before traveling to West Virginia on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
