Uhles Receives a Scholarship
NORMAN – Senior fullback Jaxon Uhles is a walk-on no more.
Head coach Lincoln Riley awarded the Norman North product with a scholarship in front of the entire team at the end of Friday's practice on Owen Field.
"He embodies everything that we want for this program," Riley said. "It's a special moment for him and he's earned it. It's hard for walk-ons to do but he's definitely earned it and we want everybody out there to know if they come to Oklahoma and work like he has, anything is possible."
"It means a lot," Uhles said. "Four or five years of hard work pays off. It's always been a dream here, and now being put on scholarship is very special."
Uhles, who graduated in May with a degree in human relations, returned to school this semester simply to have the opportunity to complete his eligibility for the Sooners. He has played in each of Oklahoma's last 25 games, mostly on special teams.
In addition to the on-field celebration, following are some of the reactions from Uhles' teammates and coaches on social media:

Senior QB Baker Mayfield
Assistant Coach Cale Gundy
Junior WR Nick Basquine
OU & Norman North Alum Jordan Evans
