NORMAN — University of Oklahoma Vice President and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione and Head Wrestling Coach Lou Rosselli announced the 2017-18 OU wrestling schedule Wednesday.

“We are pleased to announce our 2017-18 schedule,” Rosselli said. “We have a tough schedule that will get our team ready for the NCAA Championships. It provides a good balance of several conferences.”

The Sooners will hold the annual Red/White Scrimmage at 7 p.m. on Oct. 26 inside McCasland Field House. OU will then travel to Lansing, Mich., for the Michigan State Open on Nov. 5, marking the official start of competition. The Michigan State Open is the first of four consecutive tournaments for the Sooners. The team heads to Troy, N.Y., on Nov. 11 for the Journeymen/ASICS Collegiate Classic before the Lindenwood Open (Nov. 18) in Lindenwood, Mo., and the Cliff Keen Invitational (Dec. 1-2) in Las Vegas, Nev.

OU will have its first dual of the season on Dec. 17 against Appalachian State in Norman, the team’s final contest before winter break.

The Sooners’ home schedule features four additional duals, including three consecutive Big 12 matchups with Northern Colorado (Jan. 21), Iowa State (Jan. 26) and South Dakota State (Jan. 28). OU wraps up its home slate with a senior night dual against Edinboro on Feb. 10 inside Lloyd Noble Center.

OU faces four conference opponents on the road this season: West Virginia (Jan. 4), Utah Valley (Feb. 2), Wyoming (Feb. 4) and Oklahoma State (Feb. 11). Other road contests include Pittsburgh (Jan. 7), the Virginia Duals (Jan. 12-13) and Lehigh (Feb. 16).

Following regular season action, the Big 12 Championship will be held March 3-4 at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla. With the most recent addition of affiliate members Fresno State and Northern Iowa, the conference championship will feature 12 teams in 2018.

The Sooners will then head to Cleveland, Ohio, for the 2018 NCAA Wrestling Championships, held March 15-17 inside Quicken Loans Arena.
