Take a look back at some of the team accomplishments during the Sooners' national championship season in part one of a two-part series.


Postseason Notes

  • With four national titles Oklahoma trails only UCLA (11) and Arizona (8) for most in NCAA history. No other team has more than two.
  • The Sooners reached the Women's College World Series for the 11th time in program history and sixth time in the last seven years.
  • Oklahoma made it to the Super Regionals for the eighth straight season and 11th time overall.
  • OU has reached the postseason in each of the last 24 seasons, including all 23 under head coach Patty Gasso.
  • Oklahoma won an unprecedented sixth straight Big 12 regular season championship this season and also took home the Big 12 Tournament title, giving it 15 titles overall with 10 in the regular season and five in the Big 12 Tournament.


General Team

  • Set a program record for non-conference wins (44), road wins (18) and extra-inning wins (6) in a season and went undefeated in road games for the first time in team history (18-0)
  • Tied the school record for Big 12 winning percentage at .944 (17-1)
  • Posted the second highest win total overall (and in Big 12 history) with 61 and in Big 12 games (17); seven extra-inning games were second most
  • Tallied the third most home wins (24) and third best win percentage in extra-inning games (.857, 6-1)
  • Recorded the fourth highest games played total (70), overall win percentage (.871, 61-9) and home win percentage (.923, 24-2); needed 47 games to reach 40 wins for the fourth best start
  • Ranked fifth in non-conference win percentage at .846 (44-8) and fewest games to reach 50 wins at 58
  • Tied for the sixth best 40-game start at OU with a 33-7 record and was sixth quickest to 30 wins by getting there in 37 games
  • Needed 24 games to reach 20 wins for the seventh best start
  • Record of 20-4 was eighth best four-loss start and 16-4 mark was eighth best through 20 games
  • Posted the 10th best win percentage at neutral sites (.731, 19-7)


Team Batting

  • Set a program record with 63 HBP (breaking the mark of 62 set in 2007)
  • Tied the school record with 112 stolen bases, matching the mark set in 2000
  • Tied for second most sac flies in program annals with 17
  • Recorded 1,944 at-bats, the third highest total in program history and second most ever in the Big 12
  • Posted 605 hits to rank third in Big 12 annals and fourth at OU; 99 doubles also fourth at OU and in league records
  • Produced 438 runs, which were fifth most in OU and Big 12 history; 916 total bases also fifth in team history
  • Had 172 extra-base hits (99 2B, 7 3B, 66 HR) for the eighth best total at OU
  • Posted the 10th highest walk total at 211

Paige Lowary

Team Pitching

  • Broke the school and Big 12 record for saves with 15; the old OU record was 6 in 2009, while the conference mark was 12 by Baylor in 2004
  • The team's 510 strikeouts thrown ranked fourth at OU
  • OU's 7.40 strikeouts thrown per 7 IP were fifth most in team history
  • Oklahoma's 22 shutouts were seventh best in program history
  • The Sooners'.177 opponent batting average was eighth best at OU


Team Fielding

  • The team's 1448 putouts recorded were third highest in program history
  • Oklahoma's .977 fielding percentage and 21 double plays turned were seventh best in program history
  • The Sooners' 45 errors committed were eighth fewest at OU


Team Streaks

  • Active road win streak stands at 28 games through the 2017 season, breaking the old mark of 16 set from March 18, 2002, to March 20, 2003
  • OU's active Big 12 road win streak stands at 20 games through the 2017 season, breaking the old mark of 17 set from April 1, 2001, to March 20, 2003
  • Won 25 straight Big 12 games from April 3, 2016 to April 22, 2017, breaking the previous school record of 21 from April 1, 2001, to April 10, 2002
  • OU's 33-game home win streak from April 3, 2016, to April 22, 2017 was the second longest in program history
  • Tied for the fifth longest home Big 12 win streak at 12 games from April 3, 2016 to April 22, 2017
  • The 17-game win streak from March 18 to April 22 tied for the seventh longest in team history

Marita Hynes Field


  • Five of the seven largest crowds in Marita Hynes Field history occurred this year, including a facility record of 1,944 against Tulsa in the NCAA Regional on May 22
    • No. 1 vs. Tulsa on May 22 – 1,944
    • No. 3 vs. Oklahoma State on May 5 – 1,815 (largest regular season crowd)
    • No. 4 vs. Baylor on April 23 (Game 1) – 1,804
    • No. 5 vs. Baylor on April 22 – 1,783
    • No. 7 vs. Baylor on April 23 (Game 2) – 1,753
