NORMAN— Everything that the Sooners have been working for has led to this moment, and everything that has been a goal is directly within their reach.

From the participation list released by the NCAA on Thursday afternoon, 34 entries (12 men, 22 women) in 15 individual events and includes two relay teams have qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Round to be held May 27-29 in Austin, Texas.

To qualify, competitors had to have had been ranked in the top 48 in their respective event, or be among the top 24 relay teams.

This past weekend at the Big 12 Championship seemed to be especially successful for the Sooners as 17 of their qualifying marks occurred at the championship.

Overall, nine qualifying marks rank in the top 10 of their events, and of those, seven were recently recorded in Lawrence, Kan. Among the top marks in the region are Jess Woodard and Hayden McClain. Woodard enters the prelims with the top mark in the shot put, with her mark of 60-3 that she produced at the Big 12 Championship. McClain produced the second-best mark in the west with his 54-8 in the triple jump that he achieved at Big 12. Olivia Haggerty's 12.99 in the 100-meter hurdles final places her eighth in her event, and Leya Buchanan's 11.15 in the preliminary round of the 100-meter dash places her ninth.

Ama Pipi (200 meter), Everette Favor (pole vault) and Meia Gordon (discus) hold the 10th spot with their respective marks of 22.83, 17-11.00 and 183-1. Baileh Simms also will enter the preliminary round with the 10th-best mark in the long jump with her 20-10 jump from the John Jacobs Invitational. The 4x400-meter relay team of Pipi, Daye Shon Roberson, Daunicia Demerson and Payton Baker ranks sixth with its time of 3:30.90 run at the Penn Relays.

When expanded to the top 15 rankings, the Sooners add seven more marks, giving OU a total of 16 entries within the top 15 of their respective events.

Pipi, who scored 27 points in the Big 12 Championship while competing in four events, will be running the 200 as well as the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays. Likewise, Buchanan will be running in the 100-meter, 200-meter and 4x100-meter relay.

McClain, Roberson, Woodard and Gordon have qualified for two events with McClain in the long and triple jump, and Woodard and Gordon in the shot put and discus. Roberson will be on both of the relay teams.

Several of the Sooners invited to Austin are familiar with the stage and what it takes to advance.

Last year, 36 Sooners qualified and both women's relay teams and four individuals moved on to the championship round in Eugene, Ore.

The 4x100 relay team of Bianca Brazil, Pipi, Roberson and Buchanan will be making a return appearance at regionals. Last year, they ran 44.68 to finish ninth in the West prelims and advance to the NCAA Championship.

The 4x400 relay team of Pipi, Roberson, Demerson and Baker also ran in last year's regional and advanced to the championship after running 3:35.36.

Woodard advanced in the shot put championship last year as well, after finishing fifth in the preliminary round.

In 2015, 32 members qualified to the preliminary round, which was also held in Austin, with 11 of them advancing. In 2014, 20 Sooners qualified with six advancing.

To advance to Eugene and the NCAA Championships to be held June 7-10, athletes must have the top 12 times or marks in their individual event. For relay teams, the best 12 relay teams at both the East and West Preliminary rounds sites qualify.
