NORMAN – Oklahoma seniors Alex Ghilea and Andrew Harris along with junior Spencer Papa earned 2017 All-Big 12 honors, the conference announced Thursday.

Ghilea and Papa both were named to the All-Big 12 First Team in singles, while Harris was a member of the second team for singles action. Papa and Harris also partnered for a spot on the All-Big 12 Doubles Second Team.

Harris, a senior from Melbourne, Australia has now earned All-Big 12 honors all four years in Norman with a combined seven total honors. He earned an All-Big 12 spot in singles as a freshman, and was an All-Big 12 nominee in both singles and doubles in 2015 and 2016.

In addition, Harris was a 2015 ITA All-American and he was the 2014 Big 12 Freshman of the Year. Harris will enter the NCAA Championships with a 5-6 record at No. 1 singles and 7-3 mark at No. 1 doubles with his teammate, Papa. Overall, Harris is 9-3 in doubles.

Ghilea's singles honor makes it three years in a row he has been an all-conference member, also being named to the team for singles in 2016 following a spot on the 2015 All-Big 12 team in doubles. Ghilea, a Neamt, Romania, native has paced the Sooners this season with his spectacular showing in singles, owning a 16-3 record through OU's 2017 season.

This marks Papa's debut as an All-Big 12 member. The junior from Edmond, Okla., came up when his team needed it most playing at the No. 1 singles spot in Harris' absence, going 7-5 against the nation's top singles players. Papa owns an 11-9 doubles record this spring season.

In total, the Big 12 First Team and Second Team for singles each had nine student-athletes, while there were three tandems named to each of the doubles first and second teams. Oklahoma and TCU were the only schools to have three student-athletes earning All-Big 12 singles honors.

The OU trio and the rest of head coach Nick Crowell's squad hopes to continue racking up wins and achievements in the postseason, beginning this weekend in the NCAA First and Second Rounds. Oklahoma is matched up with Bryant in the first round, slated to begin on Friday at 1 p.m. CT. The winner will face the winner of Mississippi State-SMU on Saturday at 11 a.m.
