NORMAN – For the eighth consecutive year, the Oklahoma men's tennis team will host an NCAA regional by virtue of earning a top-16 seed in the NCAA Championships, the governing body announced Tuesday.

The Sooners, 15-10 in dual play, captured the No. 14 overall seed and will host Mississippi State, SMU and Bryant at the Headington Family Tennis Center, May 12-13. OU will face Bryant Friday, May 12, in the opening round while Mississippi State and SMU do battle on the other side of the regional. The winners of the two matches will advance to the second round on Saturday, May 13.

Oklahoma has won its regional in four straight seasons and has earned a national runner-up finish in three consecutive years. The squad is looking to take it one step further in 2017 with three seniors, Florin Bragusi, Alex Ghilea and Andrew Harris, and a junior, Spencer Papa, who have all been a part of multiple national runner-up teams.

Bryant finished with an overall record of 11-13, earning an automatic bid to the tournament by winning the Northeastern Conference Championship for the fourth straight season.

SMU and Mississippi State, both at-large bids, will be the other Friday matchup. SMU will enter Norman with a 13-11 mark on the year. The Mustangs fell to Memphis in the opening round of the AAC tournament in their most recent match. The Bulldogs of Mississippi State are 20-8 in 2017, having reached the final of the SEC Tournament where they ultimately fell to Georgia.

Both SMU and Mississippi State reached the Sweet 16 in last year's NCAA Championships.
