NORMAN – Former Sooner forward Amanda Thompson guided Sepsi Sic to the Romanian League Championships Thursday with a 85-76 win over Cluj Napoca.
Sepsi Sic claimed the championship series, 3-1, as Thompson averaged 7.0 points and led her team with 8.5 rebounds per contest during the league finals.
After dropping the first game in a best-of-five series, Thompson helped Sepsi Sic reel off three straight victories to earn the clubs second Romanian League championship.
Thompson poured in 11 points and collected eight rebounds to even the series at 1-1. In a 66-62 victory in game three, the Chicago, Ill., native recorded eight points and 10 rebounds in 37 minutes of action. Thompson finished with four rebounds and added one point in the series-clinching win.
In her second stint playing in Romania, Thompson led the club in rebounding at 10.4 boards per game, while ranking fourth on the team with 9.5 points a contest. The former Sooner also shot .447 from the field and .821 from the free throw line. Sepsi Sic finished with a 26-2 overall record this season.
Thompson led the Sooners to back-to-back Final Four appearances in 2009 and 2010, while helping OU to Big 12 Regular Season Championships in 2007 and 2009. She appeared in 138 games and made 110 starts at OU, averaging 8.7 points and 6.8 rebounds during her four-year career.
She was drafted in the second round (No. 19 overall) in the 2010 WNBA Draft by the Tulsa Shock.
