NORMAN – After two rounds of the Clemson Invitational, the No. 22 Oklahoma women’s golf team moves up two spots to sixth place. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is taking place at the par-72, 6,253-yard Reserve Golf Club at Lake Keowee in Sunset, S.C.
The Sooners posted a 284 (-4) in Saturday’s second round to bring their 36-hole total to 581 (+5).
With a 568 (-8), No. 8 Furman paces the 17-team field that features five squads ranked in the 25 of the GolfStat rankings. No. 5 Florida and No. 4 Florida State both share second place at 569 (-7). Texas sits in fourth place at 571 (-5) followed by Michigan State in fifth place at 575 (-1).
Ana Ruiz leads the Sooners for the second day in a row and is tied for fourth place with an overall 140 (-4). The junior totaled a 68 (-4) on the day, playing bogey-free for all 18 holes and recording four birdies.
Hannah Wood carded a 69 (-3) and is tied for 13th place (143; -1). The junior registered four birdies on the day, getting back-to-back birdies on her last two holes to finish round two.
Sophomore Julienne Soo finished day two carding a 74 (+2). Soo is tied for 35th place (148; +4) after recording three birdies on the day.
Valerie Tanguay ended the day shooting a 73 (+1) and is tied for 55th place (150; +6). Tanguay also fired back-to-back birdies in the back nine. Teammate Rylee Pedigo shares 89th place (160; +16) after recording a 79 (+7).
“We played solid as a whole,” OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell said. “I’m proud of the way we finished today. We took advantage of great conditions and have one more day to make another leap up the leaderboard.”
