NORMAN –The No. 24 Oklahoma women’s golf team advanced to finish second and Julienne Soo took medalist honors at The Clover Cup. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is taking place at the par-72, 6,184-yard Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.

In Sunday’s final round, the Sooners totaled a 284 (-4) to finish with a three-round 851 (-13). No. 4 Arizona State finished at the top of the leaderboard with an 838 (-26). OU takes second place followed by No. 3 Florida State in third with a final score of 853 (-11).

Soo shot under par in all three rounds to secure the first medalist honors of her career. The sophomore fired a program-best 54-hole score of 203 (-13), three strokes better than the former record. Soo finished the third and final round shooting a 71 (-1), playing bogey-free for sixteen holes. The first-place finish is the first for the Sooners since teammate Hannah Wood took medalist honors at the 2015 Clover Cup.

Ana Ruiz finished the tournament with a share of eighth place at 214 (-2). Ruiz also shot a 71 (-1) on Sunday, pocketing seven birdies to close out the tournament.

Valerie Tanguay came out with a share of 16th place with a 219 (+3). Tanguay carded a 73 (+1) in all three rounds of play.

Wood finished in a share of 26th place at 221 (+5). The junior posted a 71 (-1) in the third round, playing bogey-free until the 14th hole.

Teammate Rylee Pedigo tied for 34th place (223; +7) after recording six birdies in the third and final round (71; -1).

“We played solid again today!” said head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. “We made a huge move and that’s always fun to end the week the way we did today. I’m really proud of the girls and how they’ve been able to respond to our challenges each day. Julienne played phenomenal all week. She’s a really hard worker and to see her play well is very rewarding for her.”

The Sooners return to action March 31 through April 2 (Friday-Sunday) at the Clemson Invitational on Lake Keowee in Sunset, S.C.
