NORMAN – For the second time in three weeks, University of Oklahoma men’s gymnastics sophomore and reigning NCAA all-around champion Yul Moldauer has been named the NCAA and MPSF Gymnast of the Week.
Moldauer, who also won both awards on Jan. 31 after the Sooners’ home opener against Michigan, posted an all-around mark of 87.600 in the OU's road triumph over No. 5 Minnesota and No. 11 Iowa on Saturday, Feb. 10. He has now captured the honors after both meets in which he has competed in the all-around this season.
In addition to his impressive all-around score, Moldauer also took home three other event titles on Saturday. He posted a 14.850 on floor to win there, a season-high tying 15.100 on rings and yet another eye-popping 15.500 on parallel bars, his third this year in just four routines. In a season in which scoring changes have made marks of 15.000 or better rare, Moldauer has now racked up seven such scores. The sophomore rounded out his meet with a 14.900 on vault and a 14.200 on high bar.

Moldauer’s efforts on Saturday helped push the Sooners to a team mark of 426.950, their best road score of the year. Oklahoma is the only team so far this year to top the 425-point threshold, having done so in all four of its meets and twice topping 430.
Moldauer also earned NCAA Gymnast of the Week honors in the Sooners’ season opener a year ago and once again after the NCAA Championships where he won the national championship in the all-around, becoming just the second freshman in history to do so (Sam Mikulak, Michigan).
Oklahoma will break from its NCAA schedule this weekend as select members of the team as well as some alumni will compete at the 2017 Winter Cup in Las Vegas, Nev. The two-day event serves as a qualifying event for the U.S. Senior Men’s National Team. The Sooners are back in action as a team on Saturday, Feb. 25 when they return home to host Air Force in a 6:50 p.m. CT meet. Tickets are available for purchase online or by calling the OU Athletics Tickets Office at (405) 325-2424 or toll-free at (800) 456-GoOU.
