NORMAN –The No. 21 Oklahoma women’s golf team finished Sunday’s third and final round of the Florida State Match-Up on a high note, taking fourth place. The 12-team tournament was played at the par-72, 6,212-yard Don Veller Seminole Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla.
No.4 Florida State finished at the top of the leaderboard with an 837 (-27). No. 13 South Caroline finished second at 847 (-17) , followed by No. 23 Texas A&M at 850 (-14) in third.
The Sooners finished the tournament strong, carding a 280 (-8) on the day, which ties for the fourth-best round in program history. OU shot a three-round total of 864 (E).
Junior Julienne Soo passed teammate Ana Ruiz in the final round Sunday finishing in a share of 9th place out of 66 competitors with a 214 (-2). Soo paced the Sooners through the third round, shooting a 70 (-2) and playing bogey-free until the 13th hole.
Junior Rylee Pedigo had an impressive day moving up 21 spots to tie for 13th place with a 216 (E). Pedigo matched her career best, sinking eight birdies on the day en route to a 67 (-5) in the third round. Pedigo’s three-round total marks her season best.
Ruiz finished in a share of 17th place at 217 (+1). The junior logged a 74 (+2) in the final round, recording four birdies.
Junior Hannah Wood posted a 71 (-1) in the day’s final round to tie for 25th place at 220 (+4), and classmate Valerie Tanguay shared 39th place (224;+8) after recorded a 72 (E) on Sunday.
“We played really well today,” OU head coach Veronique Drouin- Luttrell said. “I’m really proud of the way we finished this tournament. As a team, we got back in the groove of competitive play and have a lot of confidence heading into our next event.”
The Sooners return to the course on Feb.27-28 in Houston, Texas for the University of Houston Invitational.
