NORMAN – Redshirt senior guard Peyton Little led the Sooners with 17 points, while junior center Vionise Pierre-Louis recorded her first double-double of the season as No. 16/17 Oklahoma defeated Little Rock, 68-58, on Wednesday at Lloyd Noble Center.

The Sooners (2-1) led 56-52 during the early stages of the fourth quarter, but used a 6-0 run to stop Little Rock’s (1-2) charge. T’ona Edwards scored four of her six points during the run to give OU its first double-figure lead of the game.

Little scored 14 of her 17 points in the first half, finishing 5-of-10 from the field with three triples in 37 minutes. The Abilene, Texas, native scored 10 points in a row for the Sooners during a key stretch of the second quarter as the Sooners led 34-33 at halftime.

“I think I was just feeling the rhythm of the game, and letting it come to me. My team has done a great job of finding me. I think it was all about rhythm and all about creating,” Little said following the win.

Pierre-Louis picked up her second career double-double in a career-high 29 minutes of action. The junior finished with 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting and a game-high 12 rebounds. Through two games, Pierre-Louis leads the Sooners with 16.0 points per game and is 12-of-15 (80.0 percent) from the field.

“We feel like we’ve got enough versatility on our roster that we can match up with whatever we see,” head coach Sherri Coale said. “I thought we had an advantage on the interior with Vivi (Vionise Pierre-Louis) tonight, and we maybe got away from using that as much in the first half as much as we wanted to, but I thought our offensive rhythm was fantastic.

“We weren’t scoring a whole lot, but our rhythm and looks we were getting were terrific. That’s so important. That’s what is going to carry and win games in January and February, so I love the development of that. The second half, we made it a bit more of a point to get her the ball at the block and let her do some things."

Maddie Manning added in nine points and recorded five rebounds for the Sooners. Gabbi Ortiz contributed six points a tallied a team-high four assists. Edwards posted six points along with five rebounds, while Gioya Carter also scored six in the victory.

OU shot 41.7 percent from the floor (25-for-60), 30.8 percent from 3-point range (4-of-13) and 87.5 percent at the free throw line (14-of-16). The Sooners also won the rebounding margin, 42-36.

Little Rock was led by Sharde’ Collins’ career-high 23 points on 9-of-22 shooting. Collins scored 15 first-half points to keep the Trojans within striking distance throughout the game’s first 20 minutes. Kaitlyn Pratt added in 10 points, while Kyra Collier picked up eight rebounds off the bench.

The Sooners travel to BYU for their first road contest of the season on Saturday. The game will be streamed live on theW.tv. OU defeated BYU, 73-47, at Lloyd Noble Center last season.
