Amy Sargeant is in her third season as the women's tennis assistant coach at the University of Oklahoma. 

In her first two years at OU, Sargeant has been instrumental in developing players on and off the court and taking the program to new heights.

During the 2016-17 season, Sargeant guided the team to a 14-8 overall record, surpassing the previous year’s mark of eight wins prior to opening conference play. Sargeant coached Lily Miyazaki to All-Big 12 Singles First Team honors, as well as the program’s first NCAA Singles Championships berth since 2004.Under Cohen’s guidance, Miyazaki won the 2016 ITA Central Region singles title and earned a career-high ITA singles ranking of No. 10.

During the 2017-18 year, Sargeant guided the Sooners to a 15-12 record, their most wins since 2015. Miyazaki once again qualified for the NCAA Singles Championships, becoming just the second Sooner to qualify for the tournament in multiple seasons, and finished her career with 96 singles wins, tying her for fourth in program history.

Prior to her arrival in Norman, Sargeant spent 2015 as an assistant coach at the University of New Mexico, helping the Lobos to a 15-7 record and 5-0 mark against Mountain West Conference opponents. The Lobos finished the season ranked No. 64 in the ITA final team rankings. Under Sargeant’s guidance, New Mexico’s doubles tandem of Rachana Bhat and Andrea LeBlanc were tabbed No. 63 in the final ITA release.

Sargeant lettered four years at Florida State, helping the Seminoles to the 2013 ACC Championship during her senior season. She earned team MVP honors in 2011, 2012 and 2013. As a senior, she became the fifth player in Florida State history to record 30 singles wins in a season, posting a 30-7 mark.

Her .811 winning percentage during her final collegiate season ranks as the second-best mark in FSU single-season history. During her four years at Florida State, Sargeant guided the Seminoles to four straight NCAA Tournament berths from 2010-13.

Off the court, Sargeant excelled in the classroom and was a member of the ACC Honor Roll from 2011-13. She was also an ITA Scholar-Athlete in 2012 and 2013, while earning the 2013 the ITA Southeast Region Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship.

After graduating with her degree in sports management and administration in 2013, Sargeant served as a volunteer assistant for two seasons with the Seminoles.
