Katie Bruggeling enters her first season as an assistant coach with the OU women's rowing program after spending her previous two seasons as a graduate assistant for the Sooners.
Bruggeling came to Oklahoma after spending one year assisting the Eden High School and Hanlan Boat Club.
A native of St. Catherine’s, Ontario, Canada, Bruggeling previously served as the Assistant Venue Logistics Manager at the 2015 Toronto Pan Am/Parapan Am Games. Buggeling worked with the Clemson women’s rowing team as an assistant varsity coach for one year and spent the summer of 2012 assisting with the St. Catherine’s Rowing Club U19 team. At Clemson, she primarily coached the second varsity eight and oversaw technical analysis for the program. She also directed domestic and walk-on recruiting.
Bruggeling competed collegiately at Clemson, where she coxed the varsity eight. During her four years as a coxswain for the Tigers, she was a three-year member of the CRCA All-South Region Team, competed in two NCAA Championships, recorded the highest varsity eight finish in school history at the South Central Sprints and was a member of the Clemson team that was named ACC Crew of the Year in 2011. She was also a member of the Leadership Council and was named an All-ACC Academic Team member in 2012 and 2013.
Bruggeling earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Clemson in May 2013.
