Former OU golfer Ryan Sirman is in his second season as the women’s golf assistant coach at his alma mater after serving as an instructor at the Matt Swanson School of Golf in Houston, Texas.
A native of Tyler, Texas, Sirman played for the Sooners from 2007 through 2011 and had a decorated career. He served as OU’s team captain his senior season and was named to the 2011 Golf Coaches Association of America All-Region Team after recording a top-20 finish at the NCAA Championships.
After his playing career, Sirman worked with both the OU men’s and women’s golf programs as a graduate assistant during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 school years. During his two years in that role, the women’s program produced ties for sixth (2012) and ninth place (2013) at the NCAA Championships, and featured 2012 individual national champion Chirapat Jao-Javanil. The men’s program placed 11th nationally both years.
Sirman graduated from OU in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in business communication and in 2013 with a master’s degree in higher education with an emphasis in intercollegiate athletics administration.
