Alcorta Named ITA Collegiate All-Star

NORMAN, Okla. - Former Oklahoma men’s tennis player Guillermo Alcorta has been named to the 2014 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Collegiate All-Star Team. The All-Star team features the nation’s top-ranked men’s and women’s tennis players from the 2013-14 season.

In his senior campaign, Alcorta led the Sooners to a program-best runner-up finish at the 2014 NCAA Championship and was named a 2014 ITA All-American. Alcorta racked up a 21-7 singles record in dual matches and climbed as high as No. 2 in the ITA Singles Rankings before finishing the year ranked No. 3. The All-Star team designation adds to a long list of career accolades for the Bilbao, Spain native. Alcorta was also named the 2014 ITA Central Region Player of the Year, 2013 Big 12 Tournament Most Outstanding Player and 2012 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year.

Featuring the nation's top student-athletes from tennis programs across the nation, the ITA Collegiate All-Star Team was inaugurated in 1984. The All-Star Team features the nation's top-ranked men's and women's players from the year-end ITA College Tennis Rankings at the NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and Junior and Community College levels, as well as winners of the 2013 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships and 2014 NCAA Division I Championships.
